Freedom of expression is fundamental speech

Then, why do we always try to curtail others words or opinion?

Simple, lack of understanding each others context and the context in which a certain sentence or phrase is expressed.

Listening is important aspect of communication.

A conversation should always be in detail explaining each others views, context, understanding and supplementing with examples.

But our beliefs are blessings and barriers at times....

Communication is literally a topic that we could argue about but discussions are always better than arguments.

Openness is one of the important aspect in the society where in we are willing to hear each others views on the context or subject of discussion.

Never, bring or let politics into a objective discussions for effective communications.

We always are lured or attracted by politics but stay away from it when we know it's not in the best interest everybody involved.

A society that is open for others views, opinions, inputs, respects such principles in their system is a good place to live. 

Similarly, a decision at times may not advocate or accommodate everyone's views or inputs but in the larger interest decisions have to be arrived at.  An approval 80% of participants without any fear would be good platform open-ended or openness discussions or decisions.

A recorded approval of decision, reasoning of decision and reasoning of decent or disagreements of an objective indicates a good and healthy environment of a society.
